German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called for the protection of freedom, democracy, human dignity and the rule of law,... on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Speaking at the Chapel of Reconciliation, where the Berlin Wall once stood,... Merkel said history teaches the world that no wall that causes divisions or limits freedoms is too high to be torn down.
She commemorated those who were captured or killed for trying to cross from East to West Germany,... saying that the fight for freedom continues throughout the world.
Merkel also acknowleged the anniversary of the "Night of the Broken Glass," when Jews were attacked across Nazi Germany in 1938.
